Nicole Oring – Living With Medusa

This is a series of 4 vignettes, each revolving around the fact that my roommate is Medusa. In the first segment, I have just found out that my roommate is none other than MEDUSA! I’m muttering about it when I hear her come in through the front door. I call out to make sure, and she enters the room. I don’t want to make eye contact, and she calls me out on it. Feeling pressured, I look up and she immediately exposes her snakes. My feet stick to the floor immediately. Slowly, the rest of my body – from my toes to the top of my head – freezes. In the second segment, I have decided to let Medusa freeze me. She thinks it is really fun. I agree, but I am nervous. I want to make sure that she can unfreeze me after! She tells me just to start walking around, and then she will pull her snakes out. When I look up, I instantly feel like my feet are made of lead. I tell her how it makes me feel until I am completely frozen.In the third segment, I’m doing jumping jacks as part of a new workout regimen when Medusa walks in. As I’m jumping, Medusa thinks it would be funny to expose her snakes and turn me to stone. I don;t find it as funny as my feet freeze to the floor and I start to feel the numbness creep up my body.In the final segment, I tell Medusa this is the last time I am going to allow her to freeze me. I try to gather myself together and finally get the nerve to look up at her snakes. Immediately, my feet go numb and are glued to the floor. I tell her exactly what movement I have and show her my range of motion, as it slowly starts to lock up on me! I tell her I’m going to strike a cool pose, and then fully freeze mid sentence!
